Olaus Jeldness pioneers skiing in Rossland in 1896
It was a time when legends such as "Olaus Jeldness" would launch the first ever downhill ski race in the area in 1896. The race went from the top of Red Mountain to the present day site of the Rossland Mining Museum.

Red Mountain, now Red Mountain Resort is actually made up of two
mountains - Red and Granite. Combined, they offer 1,585 skiable
acres amidst the resort's total 4,200 acre area. Known for “big
powder” days and few if any line-ups, Red Mountain Resort has added a mountain bike park, and has plans for new lifts and to open even more skiier terrain. |
