British Columbia Golf Packages:
A Rossland Weekend Guide

British Columbia stay and play golf at Redstone

A two-day itinerary for British Columbia golf packages, built around the course, the Clubhouse, and downtown Rossland.

Most golf-trip guides start at the first tee. We’re starting at the bar.

Here’s what we know: A British Columbia golf package built around Rossland works best as two days, not one. Check in, eat dinner at The Clubhouse first, play Redstone Resort’s Les Furber-designed course the next morning, then spend the afternoon in downtown Rossland before you drive out. That order isn’t an accident, and it’s the one we’d tell a friend to follow.

People searching for where to eat in this town outnumber the ones searching for green fees. That tells us something. A round of golf is one afternoon. A good dinner, a fireplace, and a patio with mountain light on it. That’s what people actually remember and mention to the next friend planning a Kootenay trip.

Where Should a Golf Weekend in Rossland Actually Start?

Not on the tee sheet. Start with the room and the reservation.

Check In Without Racing the Clock

Rossland sits in the West Kootenays, closer to Spokane than to Vancouver, so most visitors arrive by mid-afternoon. Give yourself that first evening instead of squeezing in a rushed nine holes before dark. Drop bags at Prestige Mountain Resort or one of the Mountain Townhouses, and let the trip actually start.

Book Dinner Before You Book the Tee Time

The Clubhouse sits inside a restored 1927 log building on the Rossland Heritage Registry, stone fireplace and all, with a deck that looks straight down the fairways. The kitchen runs pub fare built with a fine-dining hand. Three chefs, seasonal menus, nothing pretending to be more than it is. On a Friday, ask about Couples Night.

Here’s the part most visitors miss: in a small mountain town, restaurant tables fill up faster than tee sheets during peak season. Lock the dinner reservation when you book the room, not after you land.

What Does Day Two Look Like on the Course and in Town?

This is where the golf happens. But it’s not the whole day.

Play the Course Like the Elevation Means It

Redstone is Canada’s only Les Furber Signature design, and the terrain does something most golfers don’t expect: thin mountain air and elevation changes push drives well past their flatland distance, often 230 to 260 yards where a player would normally see less. Club down before you swing away. It’s a small adjustment that saves several strokes across 18 holes, and it’s the kind of detail a scorecard won’t tell you.

Walk Columbia Avenue After You Putt Out

Shower, then go find the town. Downtown Rossland is small enough to cover on foot:  galleries, shops, a coffee stop. And it anchors one end of the BC Ale Trail. The Flying Steamshovel is the local institution for a late lunch or pint; Rossland Beer Company is the newer stop worth adding if you have room for both. Either one closes out a golf day better than a highway drive-through does.

How Do Stay-and-Play Golf Packages in British Columbia Actually Work?

Picture two golfers flying into Spokane on a Friday afternoon, renting a car, and crossing the border with a couple of hours of daylight left. They can chase down a hotel and a tee time separately, hoping both line up. Or they can call ahead once, have a room and a round waiting, and spend that first evening at dinner instead of on the phone.

That second version is the entire idea behind a stay and play golf package in Rossland, British Columbia: one booking, one point of contact, and less time lost to logistics.

At Redstone, that means pairing a night’s stay with an 18-hole round, cart included, arranged through one coordinator rather than three separate bookings.

Lodging option Best for What’s included
Prestige Mountain Resort (Double Queen) Couples or solo golfers wanting full-service comfort 1 night + 1 round with cart
Mountain Townhouse Groups of four or more splitting a trip Full kitchen, room to book multiple rounds
Vacation rental (Century 21 Kootenay Homes) Families or longer stays Flexible nights, more independence

What Should You Book First?

In order, before you finalize a Rossland golf weekend:

  1. Pick your window. The course runs May through October; June through September is peak condition, but May and October carry lighter tee sheets and easier lodging.
  2. Call or email the Stay & Play coordinator to bundle the room and the round in one conversation instead of two bookings.
  3. Reserve your Clubhouse table for arrival night — especially on a Friday.
  4. Block an afternoon in town rather than treating Rossland as a drive-through between the course and the highway.
  5. Confirm cart and rental clubs ahead of time if you’re flying in without your own set.

What Else Do People Ask Before They Book?

Is Redstone open to the public, or members only? Both. It’s a semi-private club. Members play alongside public bookings, so you don’t need a membership to tee it up.

How does Rossland compare to other Kootenay golf towns? Most Kootenay courses give you a round and send you back to your car. Redstone pairs the round with a genuine restaurant on-site and a walkable downtown fifteen minutes away. Fewer stops, more reasons to stay a second night.

Do I need a full weekend, or does one day work? One day covers the golf. It skips the dinner, the patio, and the town. Which, going by what people search for and talk about afterward, is most of the reason to come.

What’s the best time to avoid crowds without losing course conditions? Early June or late September. Greens are still in strong shape, and both the tee sheet and the Clubhouse patio are easier to get a seat on.

Come Play the Weekend, Not Just the Round

We built this itinerary the way we’d actually spend the two days ourselves: dinner first, golf second, town third.
