How The Owner Plays Redstone: Hole 7

Redstone Golf Course best golfing in Rossland

Hi There,

The walk from 6 to 7 isn’t far.

And in my world, if I’m even or a couple down at this point… it’s shaping up to be a good day.

Redstone guarantees one thing: you will use every club in your bag.
People say all kinds of things about courses — but if you really stack this one up, the variety is ridiculous.

Now… Hole #7.

Dead simple.
Or at least it looks that way.

From the blues, you’re a few metres above the green.
173 yards.

For me, it’s a 7 or 8 depending on the day.

Pin is front-middle.

If you’ve got the nerve — go right at it.
If you don’t — be short.

The green is shaped like an eggplant.
Narrow in the front, wider through the middle and back.

So with a front pin, you’ve got about 10 feet of width to land it and hold the green.

Miss it and things get interesting.

Bunker complex right.
Waste bunker long left.

If you hit those… well… we’ll have a different conversation later.

Short is the best miss.

I tee it up and aim dead centre.

My usual miss? A slight pull into a rocky, sometimes wet rough left.

Let’s say I do exactly that.

Now I’m pin-high… but 10 feet off the green.
Which is actually about 15 feet from the hole.

Tight, remember?

And here’s the problem — the pin sits on a slope.

This is not the time to get cute.

No flop shots.
No heroics.

You bump it.

Because if you try to flop it, there’s a very real chance you blade it into the front bunker…
Or worse, over the rock wall into the red-staked area.

So the play?

Land it soft. Let it feed just below the hole.

Let’s say I do that.

Now I’ve got four feet uphill.

That’s a good save.

You make birdie here?
You threw a dart.

Congrats.
